Buttons or keys facing forwards

If the keys or buttons of your instrument face forwards, it is very unlikely to be a bandoneon, unless it is a modern hybrid instrument such as one made by Harry Geuns.

If the treble side has keys like those of a piano, the instrument is a piano accordion. A button keyboard offers many more possibilities and requires further classification.
